This project aims to promote rural development and prosperity for all our people in the APEC region. It will work by identifying, promoting, exchanging, training, and implementing comprehensive rural policies and best practices, especially in sustainable agriculture, food security and safety, promotion of innovation and application of digital technologies, and enhance rural communities’ social well-being.

The key activities include desk review and research in May and June, focus group discussion and key informants’ interview on policies, surveys on good practices, expert reviewing in June and July, and deliverable publishing and holding a Seminar in July and promoting through the year 2022. Involved stakeholders will include policymakers, academia, producers, including smallholders, especially women, youth, aging groups, Private sectors, NGOs, etc.

The objective is to understand better the comprehensive policies and best practices for sustainable rural development and the betterment of the people in rural and remote regions. It will support better the APEC ATCWG Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the Putrajaya Vision 2040, and the La Serena Roadmap through identifying, promoting, exchanging, training, and implementing comprehensive rural policies and best practices, especially in the area of sustainable agriculture, food security and safety, promotion of innovation and application of digital technologies, and enhancing the social well-being of rural communities.
