National Agricultural Science and Technology "Going Global" Alliance Conference Held in Changsha
On November 25, the 29th National Agricultural Research Institutes System Foreign Affairs Collaboration Network and the National Agricultural Science and Technology "Going Global" Alliance Conference, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and organized by the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, convened in Changsha, Hunan Province. The conference was attended by Jiang Danping, Deputy Director-General and First-Level Inspector of the Department of Science, Technology, and Education at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Qin Weidong, Second-Level Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science and Technology; and Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, who delivered keynote speeches.
The conference reviewed the achievements of the Alliance in advancing agricultural science and technology cooperation during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, analyzed the current landscape and challenges, and focused on the strategic planning and research for international agricultural science and technology cooperation under the "15th Five-Year Plan." Discussions also covered the work plan for the China-Africa Agricultural Technology Innovation Alliance, establishing clear strategies and collaborative mechanisms for future initiatives.
The conference emphasized the importance of thoroughly understanding and implementing President Xi Jinping's significant directives on international science and technology cooperation and the major decisions and plans of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Participants were urged to prioritize agricultural science and technology cooperation, striving to usher in a new era of international collaboration in the field.
The conference called on alliance members to collectively promote policy innovation, strengthen the development of platforms and channels such as the China-Africa Agricultural Technology Innovation Alliance, and advance the "Going Global" strategy for agricultural science and technology in an integrated manner. These efforts aim to support agricultural science and technology innovation, ensure national food security, and actively contribute to agricultural diplomacy.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' affiliated institutions, local research institutes, agricultural universities, and enterprises attended the conference.
