CIAR Facilitates Sino-Brazilian Poverty Alleviation Experience Exchange Meeting
On March 31, the Center for International Agricultural Research (CIAR) conducted a video conference with the Brazilian Federal Government's Ministry of Social Development to exchange experiences on poverty alleviation efforts in China and Brazil. Bruna Bastos, General Coordinator of the Ministry of Social Development of the Brazilian Federal Government, along with relevant personal from CIAR, participated in this insightful exchange. During the meeting, both parties discussed topics such as targeted poverty reduction, the current status of poverty alleviation in China and Brazil, China's Precision Poverty Alleviation Project, and the design and implementation of the Brazilian Conditional Cash Transfers Program (CCTs). Bruna Bastos shared Brazil's practical experience in poverty identification and targeting through the "Unified Registry for Social Programs." Representatives from CIAR presented China's poverty standards and precision poverty alleviation measures, including the First Secretary Responsibility System. Furthermore, the participants compared the differences in poverty alleviation policies between China and Brazil and delved into discussions on potential avenues for further collaboration. The two sides also compared the differences in poverty reduction policies between China and Brazil and conducted in-depth exchanges on further cooperation.
