African Green Revolution Alliance (AGRA) Delegation Visits the Center for International Agricultural Research for Cooperation Talks
On the afternoon of September 28, 2018, Nie Fengying, Vice Director of the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Deputy Director of the Center for International Agricultural Research, met with the visiting delegation from the African Green Revolution Alliance (AGRA), including Dr. Fadel Ndiame, Vice President of AGRA, and Ms. Lu Xinqing, the China Cooperation Project Officer. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation between the two parties in the field of Sino-African agricultural development.
Nie Fengying introduced the main work and achievements of the Center for International Agricultural Research. Dr. Fadel Ndiame provided an overview of the objectives, strategies, major initiatives, and the current situation of AGRA's cooperation projects with China. Subsequently, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on China's agricultural development experience and Sino-African agricultural technology transfer and cooperation. The discussions focused particularly on the transfer of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and small-scale mechanization technologies. Both parties expressed great expectations for future collaboration and reached preliminary consensus on cooperation in areas such as knowledge products, capacity building, joint research, and joint project applications. They indicated their intention to promote in-depth collaboration as soon as possible.
