The seminar for Russian-speaking countries jointly hosted by Center for International Agricultural Research has successfully concluded
On July 23, the seminar on Large-scale Modern Agricultural Development and Management for Russian-speaking Countries, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Academy of International Business Officials, and co-organized by the Agricultural Information Institute, and the Center for International Agricultural Research, successfully concluded. Chen Runyun, Vice President of the Academy of International Business Officials, and Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS and Director of the Center for International Agricultural Research, attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches. The closing ceremony was presided over by Zhou Qingbo, Director of the Agricultural Information Institute.
Five participants from Russian-speaking countries attended the closing ceremony online and received certificates of completion. In his speech, Chen Runyun pointed out that China and Russian-speaking countries are good friends with common ideals and good partners in common development. As of now, through cooperation in human resources development, the Chinese government has invited 16,000 officials, experts, and technicians from Russian-speaking countries to China to participate in various thematic training courses. Since 2021, the Chinese government has trained about 300 agricultural talents from Russian-speaking countries online. He hopes that the participants will take this training as a new starting point to continue exploring the path of modern agricultural development that suits their national conditions and make new contributions to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with China. In his concluding speech, Sun Tan stated that since the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative, CAAS has actively strengthened agricultural scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation with Russian-speaking countries.
This seminar deepened the understanding of Russian-speaking countries about Chinese agriculture and reached multiple intentions for agricultural scientific and technological cooperation. CAAS hopes to deepen agricultural scientific and technological cooperation with Russian-speaking countries in areas such as crop breeding, land improvement, biosecurity, the entire industry chain of cotton, rice, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, deep processing of fruit, and dryland agriculture, making practical contributions to the modernization of agriculture in all parties. The training program lasted for 21 days, inviting 23 well-known domestic experts and senior management personnel from enterprises, organizing 17 special lectures, 11 discussion exchanges, and 2 cloud visits to share China's practices in the large-scale modernization of agriculture from multiple perspectives. During the training period, CAAS signed cooperation memoranda with Tajikistan Agricultural University and the Soil Composition, Resources, and Quality Analysis Center of Uzbekistan.
