The opening ceremony of the Training Workshop on Key Technologies for Green Production of Fruit Trees was held online
Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, organized by AIBO of the Ministry of Commerce, and jointly organized by the Agricultural Information Institute, CIAR, and the Research Institute of Pomology, the training workshop took place with an online ceremony at the Research Institute of Pomology. Deputy Director Wang Haibo of the Research Institute of Pomology and Bi Jieying, Director of General Office of CIAR attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Deputy Director Wang Haibo first extended a warm welcome to the participants of the online training, pointing out that in the current global context where the fruit tree industry faces challenges such as environmental pollution, shortage of natural resources, and increased consumer health awareness, it is necessary to adopt advanced green production technologies. Therefore, enhancing the level of key technologies for green production of fruit trees is a crucial task with significant practical application and promotional value in this era. In her address, Dr. Bi Jieying of CIAR expressed warm greetings to the participants of the online training from various countries and looked forward to fostering close connections among the students, further deepening international agricultural exchanges and cooperation. Ms. Yvonne Nomuhle Tema from the Republic of South Africa and Mr. Aung Naing Win from Myanmar spoke as representatives of the participants. The training course, lasting for 14 days, invited a total of 66 participants, including teachers and researchers engaged in agricultural teaching and research, agricultural university students, and agricultural management personnel from 16 countries such as Nigeria, Mongolia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Laos, Zambia, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Kenya, Zanzibar, South Africa, Afghanistan, Thailand, Egypt, and the Dominican Republic. The aim of this training course is to enable technical personnel from "Belt and Road" countries to understand the high-quality development concepts and cultivation technologies of major fruit trees such as apples, pears, peaches, plums, citrus, and mangoes. It aims to promote the advanced technological achievements and management experience in China, including excellent varieties of fruit trees, modern cultivation models, soil and water management, flower and fruit management, etc. The training aims to enhance professional skills and knowledge, further promote the development of the green production industry of fruit trees in various countries.
