In September 2024, at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote address, proposing the ten partnership actions for China-Africa Modernization to deepen China-Africa cooperation and lead the modernization of the Global South. As an important initiative under the Partnership Action for Agriculture and Livelihoods, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) jointly launched the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA) at the 2024 China-Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum, ushering in a new chapter in China-Africa agricultural science and technology cooperation.

To support its development, effectively communicate its mission and vision, highlight its core functions and values, and enhance public awareness and recognition, we hereby invite proposals for the official logo design of CAASTIA. The relevant details are as follows:

I. About CAASTIA

To implement the FOCAC Beijing Action Plan (2025–2027), CAAS and AAS have jointly initiated the establishment of CAASTIA. This alliance serves as an international platform to promote China-Africa agricultural science and technology cooperation, foster the integration of agricultural technology with industry, achieve mutually beneficial cooperation and sustainable development, and contribute to Africa’s attainment of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The alliance is committed to building a new-era, all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future.

Chinese Name: 中非农业科技创新联盟

English Name: China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance

Abbreviation: CAASTIA

CAASTIA is a non-governmental, non-profit international cooperation platform, dedicated to facilitating exchanges and collaboration among agricultural research institutions, higher education institutions, and agribusiness enterprises across China and Africa. The alliance upholds the principles of openness and inclusivity, complementarity of strengths, joint contribution and shared benefits, and mutual win-win cooperation. It welcomes institutions with requisite qualifications, foundational capabilities, and willingness to participate, with the aim of accelerating the formation of a comprehensive cooperation ecosystem that deeply integrates scientific research, industry, and finance, fostering a multi-stakeholder model of shared benefits and coordinated development in agricultural science and industry.

II. Logo Design Requirements

The design should be distinctive and meaningful, effectively representing the alliance’s core functions, positioning, and cultural significance.

The logo should be innovative, visually appealing, and highly recognizable, embodying aesthetic simplicity and modernity.

Submissions must be original works and include the following information:

Basic information about the designer

A concept note explaining the design rationale and creative inspiration, including details on dimensions, color scheme, and symbolic meanings

Designer’s full name, address, and contact details

The submission must comply with all applicable laws and ethical standards, must not have been previously published or registered, and must not infringe upon any intellectual property rights.

III. Copyright and Ownership

Once a submitted design is selected, all ownership, modification, and usage rights shall belong exclusively to CAASTIA, and the designer shall not reuse the design in any form.

The designer shall ensure that the submitted work does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. Any legal liabilities arising from copyright disputes shall be borne solely by the designer.

Designers should retain original drafts, as submitted works will not be returned.

IV. Submission Guidelines

Deadline: May 10, 2025

Submission Format:

The logo design should be submitted in JPG format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi and a file size no less than 1MB.

The design, along with the required information, should be sent via email to caastia-secretariat@caas.cn.

The email subject line should clearly indicate: “CAASTIA Logo Submission”.

V. Evaluation and Awards

The selection process will adhere to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency. A panel of relevant experts and officials will be convened to evaluate the submissions. The final selection results will be announced on the CAAS website by May 31, 2025.

Awards (post-tax):

First Prize (1 winner): ¥5000 (approximately $690)

Second Prize (2 winners): ¥2000 (approximately $276) per person

Third Prize (3 winners): ¥1000 (approximately $138) per person
