Seminar for agricultural policy researchers from countries along “the Belt and Road” was successfully held in Beijing
From September 25 to 30, 2018, seminar for agricultural policy researchers from countries along the “Belt and Road” was successfully held at the Agriculture Information Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Nineteen agricultural policy researchers from 12 countries including Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Iran, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, Pakistan and Fiji attended the workshop.
Yang Guang, deputy director of Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, MARA.P.R, attended the opening ceremony of the seminar, introduced the new development of foreign agricultural cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative, and had a heated discussion on the international cooperation issues concerned by the students. Chen Zhigang, Director of the East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia Office of the International Food Policy Research Institute, Director Liu Wubing, Regional Trade Department of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Guo Pei, China agricultural university, dean of the school of economic management, Dr. Nie Fengying, Executive Deputy Director of the Center for International Agricultural Research, were invited to give lectures on China's experience and enlightenment in poverty reduction, agricultural trade and free trade zone construction between China and countries along the "the Belt and Road", China's agricultural policy development and China's agricultural informatization development, and conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions with students. Ma Xiaomin, Associate Researcher in Agricultural Information Institute of the CAAS, organized a discussion between experts and students as the host of this training course.
This seminar has various training and learning methods, not only inviting experts in the field of agricultural economy to give lectures, but also conducting round-table discussions, multi-theme exchange and discussion and field visits.
During the training, students were organized to visit the National Precision Agriculture Research Demonstration Base and study, and learn about the latest agricultural development and new agricultural facilities and equipment in China.
In order to promote the communication among students, organize them to have sufficient exchanges and discussions on the development of agriculture and investment needs in their country, and innovate development ideas. And in response to the current hot agricultural issues, Wang Jing, Director of Center for International Agricultural Research of CAAS, organized a warm discussion among the students.
The students said that they gained a lot from this workshop, and agreed that this workshop was a good start. They will keep in touch in the future and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in the field of agriculture."
