The Agricultural Information Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences successfully hosted the "Poverty Reduction Pathways" special issue launch event
The "Poverty Reduction Pathways" special issue of the Journal of Integrative Agriculture (JIA), co-edited by Dr. Nie Fengying from the Agricultural Information Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was successfully launched on April 16th at the National Agricultural Library. As the first SCI Q1 journal in China focusing on poverty reduction, the special issue reviews international practices in poverty reduction, summarizing them in four areas: poverty governance and international experiences, innovation and inclusive development, industry-based poverty alleviation, and social security. The launch event was attended by experts and leaders including Fan Shenggen, Dean of the Academy of Global Food Economics and Policy at China Agricultural University; Chen Zhigang, Dean of the International Rural Development Institute at Zhejiang University; Wang Sangui, Dean of the China Institute for Poverty Alleviation at Renmin University of China; Qiu Huanguang, Deputy Dean of the School of Agriculture and Rural Development at Renmin University of China; and Peng Chao, Director of the Rural Revitalization Research Center at the Management Cadres Academy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The event was welcomed by Vice President Mei Xurong, and Associate Director of the Agricultural Information Institute, Nie Fengying, chaired the meeting. From the inception of planning the "Poverty Reduction Pathways" special issue, the team led by Dr. Nie Fengying reached out to experts and scholars globally dedicated to poverty research.
After rigorous peer review, 20 research papers and reviews were finally selected and published. The special issue covers research summaries from around the world, including Asia, Africa, Latin America, as well as case studies and experiences in countries such as Russia, Brazil, India, and Vietnam. It also delves into the precise poverty alleviation measures in China. Eliminating poverty is a common mission of humanity, and the systematic summary and sharing of China's and international poverty reduction experiences have important theoretical and practical value in promoting exchanges and cooperation in the field of poverty reduction and working together to achieve sustainable development goals. Vice President Mei Xurong pointed out that the publication and release of the "Poverty Reduction Pathways" special issue will not only facilitate the exchange and sharing of global poverty reduction experiences but also enhance the global influence of China's poverty reduction academic research, providing Chinese wisdom and solutions for global poverty reduction efforts. As part of the national agricultural research team, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences will further consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation, implement the rural revitalization strategy, and contribute to the comprehensive well-off society with the brilliance of scientific and technological talents. Associate Director Nie Fengying stated that China has successfully explored a series of experiences in the field of poverty reduction, including industrial development, health poverty alleviation, education poverty alleviation, overcoming intergenerational transmission of poverty, and building digital systems and e-commerce value chains. In the future, the Agricultural Information Institute will continue to engage in research to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, effectively connect with rural revitalization, and contribute to the cause of socialist rural revitalization with Chinese characteristics.
