CIDCA Chairman Visits CAAS
Recently, Luo Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led a delegation to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). During the visit, a symposium was also held to exchange views on China’s foreign assistance in agricultural science and technology. Wu Kongming, President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, presented a report on related work.
Wu highlighted that CAAS is committed to playing a pivotal role in technological and industrial development. This will entail integrating relevant work planning and resource allocation into china’s comprehensive foreign assistance framework. The objective is to enhance national food security and to facilitate a new phase in Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics.
Luo spoke highly of the CAAS’s achievements in China’s foreign assistance. He commended CAAS’s pivotal role in establishing the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA) and its proactive engagement in promoting the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative. He also mentioned that CIDCA plans to work closely with CAAS to maintain regular institutional communication, with the goal of jointly advancing the implementation of key tasks.
At the meeting, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on how to fully leverage the systematic, comprehensive, and professional advantages of CAAS as a national strategic scientific and technological force. This will be done in collaboration with relevant departments such as CIDCA, with the goal of strengthening China’s overall diplomatic infrastructure and foreign assistance capabilities.
Also in attendance were Liu Junfeng, vice-chairman of CIDCA, and the chief leading comrades of the CIDCA’s First, Second Department of Regional Affairs and Department of International Cooperation. Before the symposium, Luo and his delegation conducted site visits to the demonstration greenhouse of the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers of CAAS and the National Crop Genebank of China.
