CIAR Hosts China–Brazil Green Food Value Chain Exchange
On September 9, 2025, the Center for International Agricultural Research of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CIAR of CAAS) hosted an exchange event under the Platform for China–Brazil Green Food Value Chain, welcoming a delegation of 29 representatives from Brazil’s agriculture sector for in-depth discussions on bilateral collaboration, focusing on the greener, low-carbon and mutually beneficial agricultural value chains.
The exchange focused on practical cooperation opportunities in sustainable production and trade, including approaches to enhance supply-chain transparency, promote low-carbon technologies and practices, and strengthen joint research and data sharing. Participants discussed potential collaboration in priority areas such as measurement and verification tools relevant to agricultural greenhouse-gas accounting, policy analysis on sustainability and market access, and enterprise-oriented pilot demonstrations.
During the meeting, experts from CIAR of CAAS introduced ongoing international cooperation programs and highlighted how the Platform can serve as a bridge between research institutions, enterprises and policy communities in both countries. Brazilian participants shared industry needs and collaborative interests ranging from germplasm, poverty alleviation, food safety to standards, certification and knowledge exchange. The two sides agreed to maintain close communication and to identify specific follow-up activities that can yield tangible outcomes in the near term.
Relevant officials from the CIAR of CAAS, Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) China Office, and the World Resources Institute (WRI) attended the event.
