"The 'Sailing Abroad' Agricultural Policy Training Program Held at the Agriculture Information Institute
The 'Sailing Abroad' Agricultural Policy Training Program for Developing Countries took place at the Agricultural Information Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, from November 19 to 25, 2017. Fourteen agricultural policy researchers and overseas students from Myanmar, Laos, India, Russia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Mongolia, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the training.
This training program is a significant initiative organized by the Center for International Agricultural Research as part of its role as a key base for agricultural technology support and training base in international cooperation. Gong Xifeng, Director of the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, attended the opening ceremony, and Ye Anping, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture engaged in in-depth discussions with the participants on bilateral agricultural cooperation under the framework of China's 'Belt and Road' initiative.
"The training program employed a diverse range of methods, including expert lectures, roundtable discussions, exchange seminars, and on-site learning. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Agricultural and Rural Social Service Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of Agricultural Economy were invited to teach participants about China's achievements and experiences in agricultural development, poverty alleviation in China, agricultural industry and technological development. Dr. Bi Jieying, Asia-Pacific Coordinator of the Global Forum on Agricultural Development, and experts from the Agriculture Information Institute facilitated a roundtable discussion on international poverty reduction experiences and challenges. The program also organized a visit to the International Cooperation Base of the CAAS in Daxing to provide participants with firsthand knowledge of the development of modern agriculture in Beijing. Participants were given the opportunity to present reports and submit their findings on the agricultural development and investment needs in their respective countries."
"Participants of the training program also attended the International Agricultural Research Conference organized by the Center for International Agricultural Research of the CAAS. During the conference, the Center for International Agricultural Research reached cooperation intentions with the Indian Institute of Public Administration, APK-Inform Company from Ukraine, and the Ministry of Agriculture of Laos in areas such as advanced talent training and market information analysis."
