Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is launching the NARS Capacity Building through China-Africa Research Partnership Program

The Secretariat of the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA) is delighted to announce a new opportunity under the framework of CAASTIA. In collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is launching the NARS Capacity Building through China-Africa Research Partnership Program, aimed at fostering the next generation of African agricultural scientists.
We are now recruiting candidates for the inaugural cohort of this program. Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be under the age of 40;
2. Be a full-time researcher employed by a CAASTIA member institution;
3. Hold a Ph.D. degree;
4. Have at least one year of research experience; and
5. Specialize in crop breeding or a related field.
Selected scholars will spend one year in China, fully funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This support includes accommodation, living expenses, insurance, and other essentials, amounting to approximately USD 30,000 per individual. Additionally, CAAS will provide research funding to support the scholars’ academic endeavors. The selected scholars are expected to conduct joint research in National Nanfan Institute of CAAS, located in Sanya, Hainai Province, China.
