Agriculture Information Institute of CAAS Participates in G20 International Academic Symposium of Chief Agricultural Scientists
On August 31, the G20 International Academic Seminar on "Water, Energy, and Food Relations" was convened online from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am Beijing time. Dr. Nie Fengying, Deputy Director of Agriculture Information Institute of CAAS and Executive Deputy Director of the Center for International Agricultural Research, delivered a special report on "Dietary Changes and Nutritional Improvement among Vulnerable Groups in Rural China" and participated in the thematic discussion. The seminar, organized by the rotating G20 presidency country, Saudi Arabia, was held under the Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) mechanism, with over 60 scientists from G20 member countries participating in this online exchange.
Experts at the meeting shared solutions for ecosystem protection based on nature and science, improving water and energy utilization efficiency in agricultural production, innovative tools and systematic measures for food loss reduction, improving global food security and nutrition through changes in consumption patterns and consumer behavior, and the public and private sectors collaborate to drive innovation and other research outcomes.
Dr. Nie Fengying emphasized the achievements and policy measures in China for improving the nutritional status of vulnerable groups. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between different sectors and stressed the significance of applying a food system approach in research, private sector decision-making, and public policy.
Leaders from the Department of International Cooperation, Technology Management Office of the Agriculture Information Institute, and relevant personnel from the Division of International Research attended the meeting.
