The Center for International Agricultural Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences held 2016 Work Discussion Meeting
On March 10th2016, the 2016 Work Discussion Conference of the Center for International Agricultural Research (CIAR) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) was held at Agricultural Information Institute (AII). Academician Wu Kongming, Vice President of CAAS and Director of CIAR Management Committee, Zhang Lubiao, Deputy Director of Department of lnternational Cooperation of CAAS and Director of the CIAR Academic Committee, Feng Dongxin, Director of Department of international Cooperation of CAAS and Deputy Director of CIAR Management Committee, Sun Tan, Director of AII and Director of CIAR, Jin Ke, Director of Department of international Cooperation of CAAS and Deputy Director of CIAR, Researcher Mei Fangquan, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of CIAR and Researcher Nie Fengying, Deputy Director of CIAR, attended the meeting. Committee on the work ideas, main tasks and current progress of CIAR in 2016. Vice President Wu Kongming pointed out it is necessary to fully understand the needs of the country's agriculture "going global", focus on hot issues of food security and industrial development, mobilize the talents and technological advantages of the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance and institutes of CAAS, condense the major proposition of agriculture "going global" to achieve integrated innovation of agricultural technology. Deputy Director Zhang Lubiao stated that CIAR would accelerate the construction of global agricultural data survey and analysis system to serve agricultural outward investment enterprises and provide reference for national agricultural "going global" decision-making. The Ministry of Agriculture would strongly support the communication and cooperation between CIAR and the member units of the Inter-Ministerial Joint Conference on Agricultural Foreign Cooperation, so that CIAR could truly become a national think tank for agriculture to go global. Director Feng Dongxin stated that the Department of international Cooperation of CAAS would coordinate with relevant institutes and departments of the CAAS to fully leverage the advantages and potential of international cooperation resources in agricultural science and technology. In combination with the key tasks of CAAS's innovation project, they would promote the pilot demonstration of agricultural "going global" technology integration. Researcher Mei Fangquan provided guidance on the data survey, research topic selection, and cooperation mode of CIAR. The meeting also discussed the convening of the 2016 Expert Committee Meeting of CIAR.
Nearly 20 researchers from AII attended the meeting.
