Representatives from the Sarawak State Government and enterprises in Malaysia visited the Center for International Agricultural Research
"On April 24, 2019, Zhao Ruixue, deputy director of Agriculture Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Sun Tan, director of the Center for International Agricultural Research, met with government and enterprise delegations, who came to China to attend the "Belt and Road" Summit Forum Entrepreneurs Conference from Sarawak, Malaysia. The two parties exchanged views on agricultural science and technology cooperation and talent cultivation.
Zhao Ruixue briefly introduced the basic situation of the Agriculture Information Institute and Center for International Agricultural Researchs of the CAAS to the delegation. She said that the Center for International Agricultural Research of the CAAS, as a collaboration platform for the Academy of Agricultural Sciences to promote foreign cooperation in agricultural technology and International agricultural information services and international talent cultivation, accumulated rich experience in providing technology, information and talent support for governments, research institutions and "going global" enterprises. She suggested that both parties share information on policies, investment and technology needs, and promote cooperation more better through the Center for International Agricultural Research platform and promote the cooperation between the two parties in future agricultural technology transfer and technical talent training.
Mr. Huang Shunge, Minister of International Trade, Second Minister of Finance and Minister of E-Commerce of Sarawak, Malaysia, introduced Sarawak's agricultural development, agricultural policies and investment environment, and expressed the state's strong intention to vigorously develop agricultural production and agricultural product processing trade. He hopes to introduce advanced agricultural technology and equipment from China, jointly carry out technical personnel training, and improve Sarawak's food self-sufficiency level.
Sarawak is a vast and sparsely populated state with good land resources and climatic conditions. Through this exchange, both parties believe that there will be great room for cooperation in the future in terms of research and development of new crop varieties, improvement of cultivation and breeding models, and training of modern agricultural talents.
