Following the success of Reducing Food Loss and Waste Youth Hackathon in 2022, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) co-organize the Green Low-Carbon Agriculture Youth Hackathon in 2023. It encourages young people to adopt innovative and inclusive approaches to contribute wisdom and solutions to the green and low-carbon development of global agriculture and rural areas.

During the application season, the YouthforGLCA Executive Team received innovative solutions from 27 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Benin, Burundi, Canada, China, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lesotho, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherland, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Togo, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe. After a comprehensive evaluation by the Hackathon Preliminary Selection Jury, 32 outstanding teams are shortlisted.
