About CIAR
The Center for International Agricultural Research of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences is designed to establish a key platform for international cooperation and exchange, international talent training base, and information service platform for agricultural science and technology cooperation. It aims to become a modern hub of international cooperation for CAAS, and to provide services for open cooperation and technological innovation. In accordance with CIAR’s objectives, it is currently recruiting postdoctoral fellows.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide primary support for the construction of the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA), in line with the overall direction of coordinated development between China-Africa agricultural science and technology and industry. This includes focusing on areas of common interest, such as food security, biosafety, and green development, and supporting the establishment of platforms for the exchange of science, technology, and industry information, launching capacity-building and talent empowerment programs, and publishing high-end think tank products related to China-Africa agriculture.
2. Conduct strategic research and key technological cooperation projects to promote the precise alignment and deep integration of China-Africa agricultural science, technology, and industry resources. This aims to help China and Africa face global challenges together, enhance mutual trust and cooperation, achieve complementary advantages, and share market opportunities. It will also support the achievement of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and the construction of the China-Africa
Community of Shared Destiny in the new context.
3. Complete other research tasks and work assigned to the team.
Job Requirements:
1.Foreign nationals.
2.Relevant majors such as Agricultural Economics and Management, Quantitative Economics, Economics, Management, Computational Sociology, etc.
3.Strong scientific literacy with a solid foundation in Economics, Econometrics, Agricultural Policy, and related fields.
4.At least one academic paper as the first author published in SCI or SSCI journals.
Salary and Benefits:
1.Personnel and organizational relationships will be managed under the Agricultural Information Institute (AII)'s personnel system.
2.Salary and benefits will be in line with those provided to similar positions at AII; social insurance and housing fund contributions will be made according to national regulations. Performance-based pay will be calculated based on research output, with specific details to be discussed during negotiations.
3.Applicants can apply for accommodation in the postdoctoral residence, and issues such as children's enrollment, daycare, and insurance will be addressed in accordance with China’s postdoctoral policies.
Supervisors Introduction:
Prof. Sun Tan, professor, doctoral supervisor, Vice President of CAAS, and Director General of CIAR. Engaged in long-time research on digital information description and organization and led over 10 national and provincial-level research projects. Published more than 80 academic papers and have been the chief editor and contributor of 7 scholarly writings. He was awarded the special allowance by the State Council in 2005 and the title of "National Excellent Science and Technology Worker" in 2014. He was selected for the Youth Talent Program of CAAS in 2016 and a Leading Talent in Agricultural Science of CAAS in 2018. Research areas: International cooperation in agriculture, going global in agricultural technology, and digital information description and organization.
Prof. Jin Ke, professor and doctoral supervisor of CAAS, Director General of the Key Laboratory for Innovation in Efficient Grass Production Models of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and a leading talent in agricultural science of CAAS. Renowned for leading China's international soil science and technology cooperation, participating in multiple national plans and crucial documents related to international agricultural science and technology cooperation, and contributing to the evaluation of major projects. Appointed by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the leader of the International Cooperation Special Group for the 13th Five- Year Plan for Agricultural and Rural Science and Technology Innovation, and the head of expert group for the 13th Five-Year Plan for Agricultural Science and Technology International Cooperation by the MARA. He is the principal author of important research reports such as "Global Layout of Agricultural Science and Technology" and "Research on International Cooperation Strategy of Agricultural Science and Technology", and key contributor of national documents such as the "Agriculture Going Global Plan (2016-2020)" and the "Implementation Opinions of the State Council on Agriculture Going Global". Published over 60 papers in internationally renowned journals, authored one English monograph, served as deputy editor in one monograph, and contributed to 10 others. Acknowledged with two provincial and ministerial level awards.Research areas: Strategic research on agricultural technology going global, and research on the development of international organizations.
