Time:From October 13th, 2024 to October 22nd, 2024 (10 days)
Language: English
1. Project Background
The world is gradually entering the era of digital development. The unprecedented activity of innovation in new-generation information technology is profoundly transforming the pattern and structure of agricultural and rural development. Digital technology will play a prominent role in various aspects such as agricultural production and operation, agricultural environment, rural governance, and revitalization, enhancing the management service level and scientific decision-making capability in the field of agriculture and rural areas. It will assist in improving total factor productivity and reducing negative environmental impacts. Digital agriculture and rural areas, within the scope of the digital economy, are being restructured in terms of traditional agricultural industries and rural governance through digitalization, significantly improving agricultural production efficiency, reducing agricultural production costs, and promoting the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Over the past decade, significant achievements have been made in China in digital agriculture development. A knowledge system that can be referenced globally has been established in leveraging digital technology to promote poverty reduction and rural revitalization. Cooperation between digital agriculture and poverty reduction is also an important area within China's frameworks of cooperation with Africa, ASEAN, Central Asia, and Latin America. Through lectures and on-site visits, efforts are being made to strengthen policy exchanges and dialogues between the fields of digital agriculture and rural areas and poverty reduction. This is crucial for promoting the digital transformation and development of agriculture and rural areas in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, implementing global development initiatives, and promoting poverty reduction and sustainable inclusive development.
2. Training Objectives
The ministerial workshop aims to deepen participants’ understanding of China’s policies and technological systems in digital agriculture, so as to grasp the current status and trends of smart agriculture and digital rural development in China. It seeks to share policies and experiences in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, fostering international strategic cooperation and exchange between China and BRI partner countries in areas including the development of smart agriculture technology, industrial development, and rural revitalization.
