Languege: English
1. Project Background
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) spans mainly developing economies, where the primary mode of growth often entails sacrificing the environment at its early stages. The grassland belt of China lies in the eastern segment of the Eurasian grassland belt, stretching across the Northeast Plain, the Mongolian Plateau, the Loess Plateau, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It shares commonalities with other regions of the Eurasian grassland belt in terms of the origin and evolution of plant species, composition and structure of flora and fauna communities, and regional ecological environment management. There are commonalities in grassland ecological governance and restoration. By adopting a collaborative approach among multiple countries, integrating and sharing factors such as scientific research and development, application promotion, capital, infrastructure, talent, land, and genetic resources in the animal husbandry industry, tremendous potential for regional animal husbandry development will be unleashed. This initiative holds significant importance for addressing regional ecological environmental issues.
2. Training Objectives
The Seminar on Grassland Conservation and Sustainable Livestock Development for BRI Partner Countries was successfully held. Through this training, the exchange and cooperation of experience and knowledge in grassland conservation and sustainable livestock development were enhanced. It helped developing countries to cultivate talents in grassland ecological conservation and animal husbandry, promote experience exchange and technology cooperation, and enhance participants' theoretical understanding and technical application ability in animal husbandry development. In addition, the participants have acquired new knowledge, mastered new technologies, accumulated new experience and disseminated new concepts, thus giving new impetus to the comprehensive management of grassland ecology and sustainable development of animal husbandry along the Belt and Road Initiative.
