Seminar on Cotton Production and Management for Central Asian Countries
Time:From July 17th, 2024 to July 30th, 2024 (14 days)
Language: Russian
1. Project Background
Cotton is the world's leading cash crop and a crucial raw material for the global textile industry, playing a significant role in international trade of bulk agricultural products. During the Soviet era, the cotton cultivation area in the Central Asian region spanned approximately 53 million acres, accounting for 20% of the world's total cotton production, making it one of the most vital cotton-producing regions globally. However, the cotton industry in this region has historically faced challenges, with low levels of development and subsequently, low yields. If advanced cotton cultivation technologies from China are introduced to the countries of Central Asia, their yields and overall production capabilities are poised to experience a notable surge.
2. Training Objectives
The Seminar on Cotton Production and Management for Central Asian Countries has been completed. During the event, the historical and current developments of the cotton industry, both globally and specifically in the Central Asian region, were thoroughly explored. Proficiency in the cotton production process, including selection of high quality cotton varieties, cotton field management techniques, farm machinery operation, soil and fertilizer management, pest and disease control strategies, and other key technologies was achieved. In addition, a comprehensive understanding of the cotton industry chain from planting to textile and garment manufacturing was provided. By the end of the seminar, participants had mastered the basic technologies of cotton production and were ready to formulate proposals for the development of related sectors in their countries, applying the knowledge acquired in their national contexts.
