The Sixth International Agricultural Research Conference Was Held in Beijing
On December 15th, the 6th International Agricultural Research Conference, sponsored by Department of International Cooperation and Center for International Agricultural Research , and organized by the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was held in Beijing. Wu Kongming, member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and President of the CAAS, and Carlos Watson, the FAO Representative in China, attended the conference online and delivered speeches. Dr. Wu pointed out that the CAAS has always adhered to a global perspective in planning and promoting technological innovation, actively integrating into the global agricultural technology innovation network, and enhancing the country's food security capabilities through the two-way flow of technological resources. He hoped that the Center for International Agricultural Research would continue to provide technical and intellectual support on global issues such as food security, climate change, and green development, actively participate in major actions of the academy, and promote the "introduction" of agricultural technology and the "export" of research results, contributing more Chinese wisdom, solutions, and strength to the global grain and agriculture development.
Carlos Watson stated that the FAO and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences have established a long-term and stable partnership in the field of international agricultural cooperation. The two parties recently signed an agreement on the implementation of an innovation platform. In the future, the FAO will continue to deepen cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, jointly promote the transformation and development of agriculture and food systems, and contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The conference, themed "Strengthening Agricultural Technology Cooperation to Promote Global Food Security", exchanged the current status and models of international agricultural technology cooperation, shared experiences in managing international agricultural investment risks, and released the latest research results of the Center for International Agricultural Research. More than 300 representatives from government departments such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, international organizations, embassies, research institutions, and the business sector participated in the conference online.
