    The next generation of decision makers must take the lead in building sustainable food systems. Become one of these leaders and join the World Food System Summer School hosted on Switzerland’s largest organic farm. Situated on the estate of an ancient monastery in a loop of the river Rhein, the “Gut Rheinau” familiarized us with modern, socially integrative and sustainable farming systems. The course location provided a unique experience to learn about food systems and organic agriculture in an immersion setting.
    Discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovations in food systems in a global context with producers, leading research institutes, industry partners, policy makers, and civil society representatives critically reflect on the role of organic production systems to contribute to global food security together with likeminded, motivated students from around the world. Learn how to apply a food systems perspective. The program took an integrated, transdisciplinary approach that considers interactions across the food system and with its environmental, social, and economic boundary conditions. Exchange ideas and work on case studies to address contemporary challenges of the world food system as part of an international interdisciplinary team. Experience on-farm the realities of organic production systems in a global context. This immersion learning experience integrates lectures, group work, case studies, workshops, excursions, art, and includes guest speakers and evening social and cultural activities.
